Ukraine has around 440 insurance companies, of which about 70 are life insurance businesses. According to the State Commission for Financial Markets Regulation the insurance market is stabilizing. During the first half of 2010 the number of insurance contracts issued has increased by 24% and premiums increased by 1.3% to 1.2 billion.
