Samsung confirmed that it has agreed to buy 10% shares of Pantech, the third largest cellphone maker in Korea, at a price of KRW53B (about US$48M) and would make investments in hardware area afterwards.
Previously, Samsung has established the cooperation relationship with Pantech in field of semi-conductor and display screen. It was reported that Pantech has spent KRW235B (about US$211M) on buying electronic products and components from the companies affiliated to Samsung to produce its own mobile device last year alone.
