Invest in a wind farm in an area with the greatest wind potential in the BalticsThe Business
The Company is an investor in projects that include renewable energies, patent development, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, agro-food and aviation in Europe (Spain, Bulgaria, Baltic republics) and emerging countries (Kazakhstan, Morocco, Cape Verde, Equatorial Guinea).
The Company is interested in a proposal for a 75-megawatt wind farm on a Baltic Sea site that covers 7,000 acres in the Ventspills, Latvia region. This onshore wind farm is the smaller portion of a larger plan that includes an onshore 200-megawatt wind farm. It is located in an area that has the greatest wind speed in the Baltic region, which is the coast of the Baltic Sea and northeastern coast of Riga Gulf. The Spanish group Normawind has prepared a study report of wind and annual wind energy production, which includes energy production estimates for four different types of turbines. Technical and feasibility studies indicate a promising wind farm.
Market
It has been estimated that wind energy could meet 5 – 10 % of Latvia’s electricity requirements. According to the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development there is potential for 550 MW of wind capacity. With the closure of the Ignalina nuclear power plant and dependency upon Russian fossil fuel and gas has lead to government incentives and and excellent potential tariffs.
The Company is seeking potential investors and partners for this project.
