InfoWatch, a Russian software company that develops “turn-key” corporate data loss prevention solutions, announced Wednesday that it had acquired a 16.3% stake in German antivirus security company G Data Software to enhance its presence in the European market. InfoWatch disclosed no details of the deal, but the shares were reportedly bought from a group of G Data’s minority stockholders, including a yet-unnamed “VC company in Berlin.”
InfoWatch is an eight-year-old spinoff of Kaspersky Lab, a global IT security group; it is owned by Natalya Kasperskaya, who reportedly expects to be elected a G Data board member on October 23.
