Ctrip Vice President Jiang Hao confirmed to reporters on May 29 that the Company had been officially allied with 133.cn; the latter will split Ctrip’s affiliated Express Hotel Butler, an application product for searching and reserving economy chain hotels, and accept the strategic investments from Ctrip.com to establish a joint venture.
Prior to this, 133.cn had accepted two rounds of fundraising amounting to US$80M. Ctrip’s investment amount in this round has been undisclosed. Insiders predicted an investment amount of above tens of millions of yuan, and even more than RMB100M to become the controlling shareholder.
